CONCLUSION

By participating in this project, your team has gained a deeper understanding of the historical events and social issues associated with the Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court case. Desegregation in the public school system was a significant factor in ending the era of separate but equal in all public facilities but the question of integration of public education is still working itself out in our schools and courts today. The lawyers for the NAACP sought to have equal opportunity and access to a quality education for all students and the Brown decision opened doors for African Americans, minorities, the disabled, and others to these opportunities.

As new generations of Americans enter the public schools, new challenges arise to provide equal access to a quality education. New questions must be asked and new answers must be found to fulfill the promise of Brown v. Board of Education. By reaching deeper into the past and learning how the Brown decision was fought and won, we can look to the future with a better understanding of how to meet new challenges of education and justice.
